While most families share a goal of saving more money in 2010, it can be difficult to invest money in an account that cannot be accessed for months or years at a time. Money market accounts offer a great compromise between checking accounts and CDs, allowing consumers to earn higher interest on their money than checking accounts while still having the flexibility to make withdrawals when needed.
When comparing money market accounts, be sure to check for FDIC insurance. Make sure that the terms of the account–including any limits on transactions and fees–make sense given your intended use of the account.
Mega Money Market Account from AmericaNet Bank
AmericaNet Bank’s Mega Money Market Account is currently offering 2.00% APY for all balances up to $35,000. Money market balances over $35,000 earn 1.00% APY.
The Mega Money Market Account does not require any minimum balance and does not charge a monthly maintenance fee. In addition, customers receive a free check card, free customer service, free online banking, and six free withdrawals per month. A $5 fee is charged for additional withdrawals. The bank will send a free daily email if the account is overdrawn.
